The Militants
by Norman Holland
directed by Jo Mortimer
The goal of female franchise would have been a difficult one for the Suffragettes to attain in the face of the adamant Establishment. With only themselves and very few sympathisers they had to be inventive, determined and dedicated.
They often seemed both pitiful and comic in the struggle against Law and Order. Sometimes, however, they succeeded in turning the tables so that politicians and police appeared foolish and confounded.
The happenings in the fictional Northern town of Metringham during three days in April 1908 chronicle just one of those occasions.

ROSSITER, BROAD AND BARRETT
Local musician Michael Rossiter plus David Broad and Serious Sam Barrett are three lads retreating from the vibrant folk/country scene in Leeds, West Yorkshire to perform their renditions on banjos, mandolins, percussion and various guitars for the people of Monmouth. You may have caught David Broad at the recent Monmouth Festival fronting the country troupe 'the Lovesick Cowboys'. You may also have caught him wielding the banjo with the Country Partisans at Monmouth Festival in 2007, that time along with Michael Rossiter. We now have the pleasure of also presenting accomplished "Yorkshirecana" performer Serious Sam Barrett who plays traditional and original folk and blues songs on his beloved twelve string Stella guitar. Come and have a brilliant night out!!!!!!
